Bright Ideas Conference showcases SFA faculty research
Exhibits will feature SFA’s best researchers.
NACOGDOCHES, TX. The Bright Ideas Conference (BIC) is having its biennial conference May 1 at Stephen F. Austin State University and showcases faculty creativity in research, scholarship and artistry.
More than 120 faculty exhibits will be featured at the BIC showcase. The Twilight Ballroom will have the spotlight exhibits from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the research posters and scholarly exhibits will be in the Grand Ballroom from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with free admission for both exhibits.
The Bright Ideas Conference is sponsored by the Office of the Provost and Vice President Dr. Richard Berry of Academic Affairs, the Teaching Excellence Center and the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs.
Spotlight exhibits will feature SFA’s best researchers and performance artists. One faculty member from each college is selected to display their work and receive a plaque and cash award. The faculty members’ works represent outstanding contributions or constitute major recognized achievements in their disciplines, according to the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs.
The research posters and scholarly exhibits focus on single projects or illustrate research agendas, creative interests or combinations of both. The presenters will have their exhibits displayed during exhibit hours and will be present for at least one hour.
Grace Saldaña, Administrative Assistant for the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs said, “All projects are presented, no work is turned away.”
Saldaña said BIC’s main purpose is to promote and exhibit the research and creative works the faculty has done.
“We highlight and give all faculty an opportunity to showcase their research,” Saldaña said. “BIC is held every two years, which gives the faculty an opportunity to prepare their works and finalize the finished products.”

Bright Ideas Conference Media Pitch
Dear Paula Divello,
The Bright Ideas Conference features more than 100 Stephen F. Austin State University’s best faculty researchers and their creative works. BIC gives the faculty an opportunity to highlight their work and showcase the achievements the faculty has accomplished so people are aware of the type of scholarly work being produced at SFA.
BIC encourages your support for promoting this important conference at SFA. As a program partner you play an important role in raising awareness of our conference and help the SFA faculty gain recognition for their outstanding research and creative works. Your broadcast will send a clear message and go a long way in raising awareness and prompting action among your viewers and listeners.
The Problem—SFA’s faculty isn’t easily recognized for their outstanding creative works.
The Faculty View— Take a look at how the faculty feel about their work getting recognized and conduct an interview with an SFA faculty member on the hardship of getting work recognized.
The Solution— Who is working, and how in Nacogdoches or the surrounding area towards getting these outstanding faculty members’ scholarly works recognized.
As a partner, you will play an important role in disseminating accurate information to the publics. I will contact you soon to offer additional information and discuss the various opportunities for you to become a BIC partner. Thank you in advance for your consideration of a partnership role on behalf of BIC.
Sincerely,
Rachel Pierce
